Overview
Girls like me PLUS inc is an organization that is equipped to make a life changing impact in the lives of young parents and their children. We realize the overwhelming life changes of becoming a teen parent as well as peer pressure and puberty issues.
The chief executive officer Jodie Robertson understands the value of providing support and resources for teen parents and their children through teen pregnancy education and mentoring services. Jodie has a strong desire to provide the opportunity for teen parents to break the cycles of abuse, neglect, low self esteem, poverty and other social ills that hinder the growth of their own lives and the lives of their children.
Activities Provided
The primary activity provided by Girls Like Me P.L.U.S. inc is a safe and caring learning environment, while they are transitioning from teen parents into responsible mothers and fathers through a life of growth and development.
Teen parents will be taught life skill applications including , but not limited to ...successful planning & goal setting, self esteem building, financial planning, substance abuse prevention, preventing on going pregnancies, well baby care, positive parenting skills, college prep and awareness, career exploration, healthy relationships and mentoring.
A Community effort
The use of community resources with coordinated effort between Girls Like Me P.L.U.S. Inc. and it's collaborators can be used to enhance and improve the life outcomes of young parents through the gifts, talents, skills and abilities of those who have been plagued with challenges of low self esteem, poor self image, and abuse!
